The Art of Drew Struzan chronicles the work of the worlds most iconic movie poster artist Drew Struzan. Packed with the history and notes behind some of his most iconic posters (including Star Wars, The Thing, his Indiana Jones posters, etc), the book also gives insight into posters that he was hired to create and then went unused by some ridiculous marketing executive i.e. the Waterworld one–sheet above.
It looks to be a fascinating book, filled with all his different versions of some very iconic posters and early compositions of now iconic images like the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade one-sheet. The book apparently also features tonnes of other concepts that are pretty amazing, like the Back to the Future one–sheet above.
Thanks to things like Photoshop and design software, movie posters like this are now sadly a thing of the past, which to me seems a crying shame because, these are truly works of art.
